SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Associate Administrator Francisco Sánchez of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Recovery & Resilience today announced a disaster recovery workshop to help small businesses economically impacted by the Monterey Park mass shooting and related investigation that occurred January 21 - 28. The workshop will be located at the MPK Hope Resiliency Center in Monterey Park on December 13.
“At 3 p.m. an SBA representative will explain how an Economic Injury Disaster Loan can help meet working capital needs caused by this sensitive incident. Following the presentation, SBA customer service representatives will meet individually with each business owner to answer questions about SBA’s disaster loan program and help them apply online. In addition, help will be available for small business owners who would like to resubmit their application for a disaster working capital loan,” Sánchez continued. The workshop will be at the day and times indicated. No appointment is necessary.

For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size, SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the incident.
Interest rates can be as low as 3.305 percent for businesses and 2.375 percent for private nonprofit organizations with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition.
Interest does not begin to accrue until 12 months from the date of the first disaster loan disbursement. SBA disaster loan repayment begins 12 months from the date of the first disbursement.
Applicants may apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at SBA.gov/disaster. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659‑2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance. For people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, please dial 7-1-1 to access telecommunications relay services.
