Rural Business Offers Event Venue for All Occasions
In 2002, Christopher and Brenda Newton started Chef Christopher’s Catering. The business grew to 20 employees and became the top catering company in Sumner County, Tennessee. Chef Christopher’s Catering is a family business with the Newtons and their three sons working together. In 2011, the Newtons wanted to expand beyond Chef Christopher’s Catering.
The Newtons sought counseling and training through thee Tennessee Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Volunteer State Community College. With the assistance of the SDBC, the Newtons developed a business plan and obtained conventional financing to launch Epic Event Centre.
The two businesses have increased revenue from $300,000 in 2009 to over $1 million in 2017. Additional, the Newtons have increased from three employees in 2002 to 27 in 2017. Epic Event Centre and Chef Christopher’s Catering has been voted Best Caterer and Wedding Venue in the Readers’ Choice Toast Award of Sumner County as well as multiple awards through the Taste of Gallatin.
