Ruidoso’s Noisy Water Winery - The Sound of Success
Jasper Riddle, President of Noisy Water Winery and Cellars in Ruidoso, NM was thrust into business ownership in 2010 when he returned to his hometown and purchased the controlling share in his family’s company. The young entrepreneur transformed a new, struggling business into a thriving employer in rural New Mexico.
Initially, Noisy Water Winery consisted of a winery and a gift shop with 4 employees. In 2016, Riddle purchased land in Alto, NM and opened a production facility. He also grew the company to include three tasting rooms in Ruidoso and Cloudcroft, NM with an additional tap room and event space in Alto, NM. All told, Noisy Water Winery expanded to six locations, in four cities and boasts strong online sales. The company now employs 44 individuals with plans to hire 10 more.
Riddle utilized counseling and training from U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Resource Partner, the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at New Mexico State University – Alamogordo. While a client of the SBDC, Riddle realized 38% growth in sales and 124% increase in net profit. Advisors with the center also guided him in applying for a USDA REAP grant which allowed him to convert his production facility to solar power.
Riddle is a business leader invested in the well-being of his hometown. All proceeds from his “Tighty Whitey White” wine go to scholarships for high school students and he regularly donates to area non-profits. As a board member of four state and local economic development organizations, Riddle is committed to the growth of his community, region and state.
Due to both his sharp business acumen and his dedicated community engagement, Jasper Riddle was honored as the 2018 SBDC at NMSU – Alamogordo Star Client and as the 2018 New Mexico SBA Small Business Person of the Year.
