Jim Wilson of Bangor Savings Bank is SBA’s 2023 NH Financial Services Champion
Commercial lending goes beyond the numbers and great lenders take the time to build trusted relationships with the clients they serve. That is what makes this year’s SBA New Hampshire Financial Services Champion, Jim Wilson of Bangor Savings Bank, stand out. Jim has earned the reputation of being helpful, diligent, and customer-centric making him rise to the top in small business lending. Jim is a true advocate who goes above and beyond to get to know his prospective customers and their businesses so that he can offer them the best path forward for financial success. He brings a positive, can-do attitude to his position and strives to give his clients clear guidance and options, breaking it down in a way that is easy to understand.
Jim began his banking career in 2010, spending 10 years in management roles in retail branches. As a Branch Manager, Jim enjoyed connecting with small business owners especially during the Covid19 Pandemic when he was assisting the bank with the high volume of SBA Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. That one-on-one interaction and his curiosity to learn how he could further help small businesses, drove his transition to his role today as a small business lender at Bangor Savings Bank. Jim works out of both the Portsmouth and Manchester branches. He can be found regularly in both communities at business networking events or volunteering at Bangor Savings Bank-sponsored events.
Jim was nominated by Seacoast Regional Director for the NH Small Business Development Center, Ed Miles who stated, “Having worked closely with Jim on a variety of financing projects, one thing that sets him apart is his genuine interest in creating a relationship with the client and learning about their business as he assesses their funding needs. He doesn’t just look at the numbers and wants to get to know the person behind the business.”
Jim is a native of northern NH and enjoys spending time in the White Mountains. He is currently working on hiking the New Hampshire 4,000-footers with his wife and daughters and is an avid skier. As a photography enthusiast, he showcases his work capturing the NH landscapes and scenery in a published calendar each year. For more information on Bangor Savings Bank https://www.bangor.com/
