Garza Insurance Agency 2024 South Dakota Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year

Obed Garza was born December 9, 1968 in Monterrey, Mexico. His family moved to the United States when he was a child. Obed graduated from Homer Hanna High School in Brownsville, Texas in 1988. Obed went on to attend Texas Southmost College in Brownsville, TX and where he received a teaching degree. Obed then attended South Texas VoTech in Brownsville, Texas and graduated in 1992 with a degree in Computer Accounting. Obed originally moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1993 where he worked as a licensed Spanish speaking insurance agent. He moved back to Brownsville in 2003, where he continued to work as a licensed Spanish speaking insurance agent followed by living in Omaha for two years interning as a Spanish Church Pastor and then in Guatemala for one year. He moved back to Sioux Falls in 2012 and started Garza Insurance Agency.
