From the Army and Air Force to New York’s Go-To Hair Source
Nicole Daly has always had a passion for helping others express themselves. During her career in the Amry and Air Force, Nicole also worked to master the craft of hair and nail styling, as she wanted to pursue this avenue in her post-military journey. Even though she had been working as a part time stylist for over a decade, Nicole always dreamed of owning her own salon. In 2013, the stars aligned for Nicole’s dream, and she opened Hair Journeys Salon and Beauty Bar in Albany, NY.
Disgruntled by the beaty industry’s one size fits all approach, Nicole decided that she wanted to transform the hair industry and focus on the customer. Hair Journeys Salon provides customers with a unique, enjoyable, and collaborative experience that keeps them coming back for the perfect style and nail care. They also perform makeup and lash services to help customers look and feel their best.
As soon as Nicole opened Hair Journeys, she connected with her local Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) which provided her with a variety of resources and classes for Nicole to take in order to gain business knowledge and grow her business. Through these trainings and resources, Nicole gained the tools and confidence to be able to guide her business through every challenge she has faced.
Nicole values the mentorship her local VBOC has provided her with over the course of her business journey. By using her local VBOC resources, Nicole has been able to turn Hair Journeys Salon into a community staple. Any time she has a question or needs advice, Nicole turns to her local VBOC and receives the consultation and guidance she needs to help her business.
By using VBOC assistance, Nicole and her team continue to excel at their mission to satisfy customers and build long-term relationships. This past year, Nicole achieved the milestone of owning her business for 10 years! Nicole and Hair Journeys Salon gets to celebrate this milestone during the 10th annual National Veterans Small Business Week. Her local VBOC has been there for all 10 years, assisting her and providing guidance every time she stops by and hopes to continue to assist her, and other local veteran owned businesses achieve success.
