Because of the Paycheck Protection Program The Black Dog Coffee Company looks at their coffee cup as half full
Like most other small businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a major economic disruption for Jennifer and Brian Bircher, owners of The Black Dog Coffee Company in Shenandoah Junction, WV.
However, with the help of Jefferson Security Bank the small business was approved for the Paycheck Protection Program to cover the payroll of their 23 employees and utilities for eight weeks. “We were so concerned about all of the rapid changes happening,” said Bircher. “Don Jacot with Jefferson Security filed the application and within a week we were notified we were approved, and a check was cut immediately. The PPP, covering our payroll costs, has allowed us to use the revenue from our daily sales to pay local vendors who are also struggling during all of this.”
The best part is the duo is taking this time to look at the bright side. They installed a walk-up window and started offering online ordering and payment.
“Because of PPP and pivoting our business model we were able to stay open and pay our employees who are our most valuable asset”.
