Matthew Stevens

Matthew Stevens serves as Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Investment and Innovation. In this role, Matt leads the office's Enterprise Shared Services (ESS) divisions, guiding OII’s budget and financial management strategy, human resources, fund accounting & administration, information technology & data, and procurement functions. He also serves as a supervisor and advocate for the SES leads of OII’s three funding program divisions—Patient Capital Investments (PCI), Investment and Innovation Ecosystem Development (IIED), and SBIR/STTR.
Matt comes to OII as an accomplished civil servant, having held leadership roles across SBA, most recently as the Director of MySBA, and previously as the Director of the Shuttered Venue Operator Grants (SVOG) Program. Prior to Matt’s current service at SBA, he worked on defense manufacturing priorities at the U.S. Department of Defense in the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. Matt started his federal career in 2012 as a Presidential Management Fellow in SBA's Office of Entrepreneurial Development, where he eventually led the Regional Innovation Clusters program and other strategic initiatives. He started working with small business owners as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador.
Matt holds a B.A. in Economics and Spanish from Southwestern University and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business.
