Israel Nery

Senior Advisor

Israel Nery is currently serving as Senior Advisor to the 27th SBA Administrator. He leads and executes on various internal and external initiatives in support of the Administrator’s priorities.

Prior to joining SBA, Mr. Nery served as a Strategy & Consulting Manager at Accenture Federal Services leading internal strategic initiatives such as joint venture creation.

He was formerly the Assistant District Director and District International Trade Office for the Small Business Administration (SBA) Los Angeles District Office where he finished his time as the Acting Deputy District Director. He was a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) at the SBA and a PMF Detailee at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Mr. Nery was also chosen as a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) Law Graduate Fellow, where he worked in the House Committee on Financial Services under Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-CA-43).

Israel Nery earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), where he was a member of the College Soccer team. Subsequently, he earned his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Woodbury University. He earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was awarded the Rickert Award for Excellence in Service.

Israel Nery has published articles in academic journals on topics involving law, economics, and technology. Such journals include the Harvard Journal on Hispanic Policy, the University of London Digital Evidence and Electronic Signature Law Review, the Georgetown Public Policy Review, and the University of the District of Columbia Law Review. He is also a proud Veteran and still serves as a Commissioned Officer in the Army Reserve. He formerly served as Chairman of the Armed Forces Committee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He was also a board member of the CSUMB Foundation.
