A strong and effective board of directors is crucial for the success and sustainability of any nonprofit organization. This workshop provides essential guidance on developing a committed and supportive board. Learn how to induct new board members successfully, define clear roles, and understand both collective and individual fiduciary responsibilities. We will also cover key questions potential board members should ask before joining and the time commitments involved.

Cheryl Smith brings over 25 years of experience to the nonprofit sector. As the CEO of Dewlyn Nonprofit Services, she assists more than 3,000 nonprofit leaders each year, helping them build sustainable organizations through her extensive training, coaching, and grant-writing expertise. Cheryl is the author of “21 Ways to Fund a Nonprofit,” a member of the American Grant Writers Association, and a former Board Chair of a child welfare organization in Georgia. In addition, her commitment to social impact extends nationwide as a nonprofit volunteer trainer for SCORE, as well as a public speaker for various private sector groups. Cheryl's core expertise lies in establishing and strengthening organizational capacity for small nonprofit organizations, and her chief aim is to help nonprofit leaders actualize their missions and achieve their greatest potential.
