Canva for Beginners

In Person Workshop

Level: Beginner. Has never used Canva prior or very little.

Heather Turner, SCORE Mentor, specializes in digital marketing with industry experience in advertising, design and marketing as well as media and publishing. During this workshop she will walk through the basics of Canva as a design tool and creating an ad. Canva is a useful tool for creating simple, yet eye-catching, graphics that can be used as printed fliers or on social media platforms. It's a great tool that can be used by small businesses, nonprofits, or individuals.

Attendees should plan to bring their laptops (some will be available to use if needed). Please create a Canva account in advance at https://www.canva.com/ and bring your login information with you. You do not need to sign up for the full version of Canva. We will be using the FREE version for this class but also touching on what the paid version offers above and beyond the free version. For most businesses, the free version is all one needs.

Presenter Heather Turner is a Granite Region Certified SCORE mentor. She spent twenty years cooking professionally and in 2003, started her own business (with the assistance of a SCORE mentor). She currently teaches social media and marketing for small businesses and mentors and co-mentors in the chapter for marketing and social media for startup businesses and for existing businesses who need some help and guidance in the digital age. She also specializes in working with the hospitality industry for operations, both starting a food business as well as in business.
