Event description
The City of Miramar Economic Development and Housing Department, through its Miramar Business Academy (MBA), presents its 2025 program—designed to help individuals and entrepreneurs seize business opportunities, build thriving enterprises, and create lasting wealth. This year’s focus? Helping entrepreneurs and small business owners successfully prepare for grant and loan applications from municipalities, CDFIs, foundations, corporate sponsors, and traditional financial institutions.
Session 9: Basic Bookkeeping and Accounting
About the event: You own a business. Do you know where your money is? Keeping track of a business’ money is key. Cash is its lifeblood. Running out of cash shuts down many businesses.
As an owner you must know where your money is. Are customers late in paying? Are you paying vendors too quickly? Are you passing employee withholding on to the IRS? Are you making a profit?
You do not need necessarily to know accounting and bookkeeping. But you do need to have you or someone in the business or a 3rd party doing that work and providing that information regularly.
There are smart systems around today that are affordable. But it takes some owner’s discipline to get the business organized to get the right information into the systems at the right times.
Once set up, you will have a dashboard that will give you information that will enable you to make better decisions.
Spend 90 minutes or so and learn what to do.
**This live online seminar is part of a series about planning your business. Each online seminar is on a standalone subject and does not require participation in the series. If you find you are interested in the series your registration for this webinar will entitle you to continue with the series.
