With Veterans Day around the corner, the U.S. Small Business Administration honors the men and women who not only serve our country abroad, but also continue their service at home as small business owners. From fighting for freedom to creating jobs, our service members and their spouses are an invaluable asset to our communities.
This week, October 30 through November 3, the SBA celebrates, connects and empowers entrepreneurs and business owners in the military and veteran communities during National Veterans Small Business Week. This year’s theme is “Moments that Matter.”
Entrepreneurship is not one-size-fits-all, but rather, unique to the business owner and his or her experience. Whether they are writing a business plan, connecting with a business mentor, or receiving a loan to start or expand their business, each veteran, military member or military spouse can access resources available through the SBA.
The SBA recognizes diversity through its extensive portfolio of programs and resources and is proud to support veteran and military entrepreneurs.
During National Veterans Small Business Week, I encourage you to support your local military-owned businesses. Attend one of the many NVSBW events happening across the nation. Join the conversation on social media using hashtag #MyVetBiz. And if you’re a veteran, service member, National Guard and Reserve member or military spouse ready to discover your “moment that matters, ” find out how we can support your journey at www.sba.gov/myvetbiz.
