SBA Administrator Visits New York City Small Businesses

NEW YORK CITY – On Wednesday, May 29, Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the voice in President Biden’s Cabinet for America’s more than 33 million small businesses, traveled to New York City to visit AANHPI-owned and Latino-owned small businesses in Queens alongside Congresswoman Grace Meng to highlight how the Biden-Harris Administration’s economic agenda is fueling a diverse wave of entrepreneurship nationwide. 

In the morning, Administrator Guzman and Congresswoman Meng visited the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Queens College and met with university leaders to discuss how the SBDC and SBA can support local small businesses. Afterward, Administrator Guzman and Congresswoman Meng toured two AANHPI women-owned small businesses in Flushing – HA Bakery and New York Digital City Inc. – to highlight the community’s entrepreneurial spirit and contributions to our economy during Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month.

To end the day, Administrator Guzman and Congresswoman Meng joined New York City Councilmember Francisco Moya in at Kafra’s Bakery, a Latino-owned bakery in Jackson Heights that is part of the Small Business Boom under the Biden-Harris Administration. Since President Biden took office, there have been more than 17.5 million new business applications nationwide – including over 1 million in the state of New York alone.
