Readout: SBA Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed Visits Connecticut for Stop on National Small Business Week Roadshow

CROMWELL – On May 2, U.S. Small Business Administration Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed, traveled to Cromwell, Connecticut for a stop on his 2024 National Small Business Week (NSBW) roadshow.

In the morning, Deputy Administrator Syed was joined by Connecticut’s Chief Manufacturing Office Paul Lavoie for a tour of Medzah Industries, a Glastonbury-based medical equipment and supplies manufacturer. While on the tour, the Deputy Administrator discussed how, under the Biden-Harris Administration, more than 17.2 million new business applications have been filed, including more than 140,000 in Connecticut alone. Medzah, represents the resurgence of manufacturing in Connecticut and small business innovation.

Later in the afternoon, Deputy Administrator Syed participated in Connecticut’s 2024 National Small Business Week awards ceremony where he delivered opening remarks, sharing SBA’s work to democratize access to capital and resources for all communities. He also participated in a roundtable with awardees, learning about their entrepreneurial journeys and discussing how SBA can support their continued growth.
