Readout of SBA Administrator Guzman’s Meeting with the American Jewish Committee in Miami

SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman and AJC CEO Ted Deutch signed the first-of-its-kind agreement as part of President Biden’s whole-of-government approach to combat antisemitism

MIAMI – On Wednesday, July 12, 2023, U.S. Small Business Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman joined Ted Deutch, CEO of the American Jewish Committee, and signed a strategic agreement intended to uplift Jewish communities across America.

After the signing, Administrator Guzman participated in a small business and community leader roundtable to discuss how Jewish communities will benefit from the alliance, what the Biden-Harris Administration is doing to combat antisemitism in our communities, ways the SBA can support Jewish Americans, capital access, federal contracting opportunities, exporting and working with other marginalized communities to combat hate. Participants included Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, Regional Administrator Scott Allen, local Miami small business owners, administrators of Florida International University, and the leadership of the American Jewish Committee.

“Hate and discrimination have no place on Main Street,” said Administrator Guzman. “We are proud to partner with AJC to combat antisemitism and other forms of hate as part of the President’s National Strategy. This first-of-its-kind partnership will help us support small business owners and their employees with the tools necessary to identify, recover and prevent hate in their communities to help ensure Jewish Americans and all Americans feel safe going about their daily lives.”

“This is an important moment in advancing the White House strategy to counter antisemitism,” said AJC CEO Ted Deutch. “Small business owners are vital pillars of their community who should not have to endure vandalism and intimidation because of who they are or the customers they serve. We look forward to working with the SBA on this important initiative that will be a model for how we can take a whole-of-society approach to fight antisemitism.”
