SBA Associate Administrator to Visit Fort Lauderdale with City Mayor Dean Trantalis; Highlight SBA Support for Businesses and Residents Impacted by the April Severe Storms and Flooding in Broward County

ATLANTA – On Monday, May 8, 2023, Francisco Sanchez, Jr., Associate Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration ‘s Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience will visit with disaster survivors as well as businesses affected by the Severe Storms and Flooding in Fort Lauderdale, Broward County. The visit is part of SBA’s continuing efforts to encourage businesses and homeowners to leverage the available low-cost federal disaster loans to recover, rebuild better and stronger.

Recently, U.S. SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced a policy change granting 12 months of no payments and 0 percent interest.  This pertains to all disaster loans approved in response to disasters declared on or after Sept. 21, 2022, through Sept. 30, 2023. This policy change will benefit disaster survivors and help them to decrease the overall cost of recovery by reducing the amount of accrued interest they must repay.
