SBA Proposes Revisions to Employee-Based Size Standards in Manufacturing and Other Industry Sectors

SBA Proposes Small Business Size Standard Revisions in Manufacturing and Industries with Employee-Based Size Standards in Other Sectors Except Wholesale Trade and Retail Trade

On April 26, 2022, SBA published a proposed rule in the Federal Register proposing to revise employee-based size standards for businesses in Manufacturing (NAICS Sector 31-33) and industries with employee-based size standards in other sectors except Wholesale Trade (NAICS Sector 42) and Retail Trade (NAICS Sector 44-45).  The proposed rule is part of the second 5-year rolling review of small business size standards, as required under the Small Business Jobs Act of 2010 (Public Law No. 111-240, sect. 1344, September 27, 2010). 

SBA proposed to increase 150 employee-based size standards in those nine sectors, including 120 in Manufacturing and 30 in industries in other sectors excluding Wholesale Trade and Retail Trade.
