SAN ANTONIO, TX – David Elizondo has assumed duties as the new Deputy District Director of the United States Small Business Administration’s (SBA) San Antonio District Office, announced South Central Region VI Regional Administrator Justin Crossie.
Elizondo will work to spur economic development and job creation in 55 Texas south-central and Hill Country counties, serving more than 400,000 small businesses.
“David is a dynamic leader with the proven skills and passion to propel this top-producing District even higher,” said Crossie, who oversees SBA engagement in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. “David’s experience as an SBA manager and as a veteran is just the right mix to bring quality SBA outreach and market penetration to the San Antonio District’s diverse communities.”
Prior to this position, Elizondo served as manager of the Corpus Christi Branch Office in the Lower Rio Grande Valley District. In this role, Elizondo was instrumental in organizing multiple training and outreach events to inform residents about SBA’s Disaster Loan programs available to assist in recovery following the devastation left by Hurricane Harvey. Elizondo also worked with local lenders to increase loan activity, helped increase export assistance for local firms and targeted promotion of SBA services in rural areas as part of the SBA’s collaborative agreement with USDA.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force and successfully completing two tours to the Middle East, Elizondo accepted a position as program director of the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. In this SBA-funded organization, Elizondo was instrumental in leading personnel transitioning from military service to civilian careers and the development of small businesses.
A native of Houston, Elizondo is a graduate of the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley. He earned both a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a major in Computer Information Systems, graduating Magna Cum Laude and a Master’s in Business Administration.
