ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration’s Great Lakes Regional Administrator, Rob Scott is encouraging those affected by the severe storms and flooding from Feb. 14 through March 4, 2018 in Indiana to register for assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and submit completed SBA disaster loan applications to get the help they need.  Indiana’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is ready to help businesses prepare their disaster loan application.

The SBA’s low-interest disaster loan program is the primary source of federal funds for long-term recovery for uninsured damages caused by a declared disaster. “We are coordinating efforts with our SBA resource partners along with federal, state and local stakeholders in the declared disaster area to ensure those affected can get back to where they were before the disaster struck,” said Scott.  “Taking time to complete and submit the SBA’s disaster loan application package is an important part of the process.”

“The SBDC network in Indiana is reaching out to local businesses to make sure they have access to the resources they need to help them recover from the disaster,” said Troy Phelps, state director of the Indiana SBDC.

Certified business consultants from the SBDC network are available to assist businesses in completing their disaster loan applications at no cost.  Visit www.isbdc.org for the nearest SBDC location in Indiana.

The disaster declaration covers Carroll, Clark, Dearborn, Elkhart, Floyd, Fulton, Harrison, Jasper, Jefferson, Kosiusko, Lake, La Porte, Marshall, Ohio, Porter, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Spencer, Starke, Switzerland, Vanderburgh and White counties in Indiana which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA. Small businesses and most private nonprofit organizations in the following adjacent counties are eligible to apply only for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans: Benton, Cass, Clinton, Crawford, Dubois, Franklin, Gibson, Howard, Jennings, Lagrange, Miami, Newton, Noble, Perry, Posey, Ripley, Scott, Tippecanoe, Wabash, Warrick, Washington, and Whitley in Indiana ; and Cook, Kankakee and Will in Illinois; and Boone, Carroll, Daviess, Gallatin, Hancock, Hardin, Henderson, Jefferson, Meade, Oldham and Trimble in Kentucky; and Berrien, Cass, and Saint Joseph in Michigan; and Butler and Hamilton  in Ohio .

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via the SBA’s secure website at DisasterLoan.sba.gov .

To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, applicants should register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA mobile app. If online or mobile access is unavailable, applicants should call the FEMA toll-free helpline at 800-621-3362. Those who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services should call 800-621-3362.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is July 5, 2018 .  The deadline to return economic injury applications is Feb. 5, 2019 .
