WASHINGTON –Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and a member of President Obama’s Cabinet, will travel to Mexico City, Mexico, October 1-5, 2016. The Administrator will discuss the importance of harnessing the power of entrepreneurship to advance economic prosperity in the United States and Mexico.
“Our two countries are more than neighbors, we are strategic interdependent partners,” said Contreras-Sweet. “We share an entrepreneurial ecosystem and for U.S. small businesses, Mexico is a primary destination for U.S. small business exports.”
The Administrator was invited by Mexico’s Ministry of Economy and the Instituto Nacional del Emprendedor (INADEM) to deliver a keynote address at Mexico’s National Entrepreneurship Week (SNE). Enrique Peña Nieto, President of Mexico will offer remarks during the SNE inauguration. Mexican, U.S., and international media are invited to attend and cover the event.
During her visit, Contreras-Sweet will meet with Mexican Secretary of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, the Secretary of Finance, Jose Antonio Meade, INADEM President Enrique Jacob Rocha, Mexico City Mayor, Miguel Angel Mancera, and private sector leaders. She will discuss policies to promote shared economic growth through entrepreneurship, and will advance bilateral cooperation through the High-Level Economic Dialogue (HLED) and the Mexico-U.S. Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council (MUSEIC).
