Regional Administrator Donna Davis of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), today reminded California small businesses of the Nov. 2, 2016, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster Loan for economic injury caused by the ocean conditions resulting in the delayed Commercial Dungeness Crab Season set to open on Nov. 15, 2015, and the Nov. 6, 2015, closure of the Commercial Rock Crab Fishery.
According to Davis, small nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) of up to $2 million to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. “EIDLs may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that cannot be paid because of the disaster’s impact. EIDL assistance is available regardless of whether the applicant suffered any property damage,” Davis said.
These low-interest federal disaster loans are available in Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Kern, Kings, Lake, Los Angeles, Marin, Mendocino, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Sierra, Siskiyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Ventura, Yolo and Yuba counties in California; Douglas and Washoe counties in Nevada; and Curry and Josephine counties in Oregon.
The interest rate is 4 percent for businesses and 2.625 percent for private nonprofit organizations with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are based on each applicant’s financial condition.
