Free SBA Workshops in August Help Entrepreneurs Ages 50+ Start & Grow Small Businesses
FRESNO – During the month of August, SBA’s Fresno District Office is celebrating “Encore Entrepreneurs,” business owners who start companies when they are ages 50 or older. The Fresno SBA is offering two free workshops targeted to Encore Entrepreneurs. These business owners start companies later in life for several reasons including extra income in retirement, interest in having a second career, or to pursue work in a field they’re passionate about. SBA’s free workshops are open to business owners of any age, and will discuss SBA programs that can help any entrepreneur start and grow a successful small business.
On Friday, August 5th at 9:00 am, an experienced Loan Officer will lead SBA’s free “Loans to Start, Run, and Grow Your Business” workshop. Learn how SBA financing can help Encore Entrepreneurs operate home-based businesses, support multi-million dollar real estate and manufacturing transactions, and fund exporting loans, construction loans, lines of credit, and others deals. A local banker will explain how to prepare a successful SBA loan application, and the workshop will conclude with a Question & Answer session. On Thursday, August 18th at 9:00 am, SBA’s free “Find and Win Government Contracts” workshop will teach Encore Entrepreneurs how to successfully compete for government projects. The workshop will include an overview of SBA’s 8(a), HUBZone, and Surety Bonding Guarantee Programs. Attendees will also learn how to obtain and use contracting certifications for Women and Veteran-owned businesses to market to contracting officials.
