Merrimack County Customs of Bradford NH SBA’s 2023 Micro-Enterprise Business of the Year
The ‘stairway to entrepreneurship’ can be found in a facility in Bradford NH with a rich 30-year history of custom stair fabrication. Merrimack County Customs, LLC (MCC) and owner Jason Allen fit the definition of microenterprise to a tee – an owner-operated business with 5 or fewer employees offering innovative products or services while contributing to community-oriented projects. Jason is a NH native growing up in the Kearsarge area. After high school, he followed his creative dream, attending Manchester Community Colleges Welding Technology program. This educational combination afforded him both welding technology classes and business training. Armed with certifications and experience, Allen refined his skills in welding and business management by working for two welding businesses which enabled him to eventually go out on his own in 2012.
MCC is a reputable, professional welding and fabrication company specializing in custom metalwork, metal stairs, handrails, and architectural woodwork for residential and commercial properties. They provide customers with quality craftsmanship and individualized service ensuring their customers get desired outcomes with an emphasis on customer satisfaction. Jason oversees all aspects of the daily operations of MCC including design, production, and installation. MCC’s reputation for high-quality products is a direct reflection of Jason’s hard work and dedication to excellence on every product created and project designed and installed throughout the Lake Sunapee Region and beyond.
Jason is passionate about creating and building, starting at a young age. His interest in entrepreneurship comes from watching his grandfather run a general contracting company. Over the years, Jason enjoyed the challenge of finding solutions for complex issues, whether it’s a complicated build to figure out how to add a second floor to Lake Sunapee’s Lake Queen Dinner Boat or strategically growing his business by purchasing a larger space. With the support of the SBA 504 loan program Jason acquired through Capital Regional Development Council (CRDC) and NBT Bank, he was able to purchase a facility in his hometown of Bradford. Previously, this facility was home to Colonial Woodworking, a custom wood stair fabrication company for over 30 years. Moving into this larger space allowed MCC to hire employees and expand its offerings to feature more artistic applications.
Jason, along with his wife Sydney and 3 children, live in Bradford. Their commitment to the community is reflected in their volunteer efforts with the town’s park and recreation committee, public schools, and various community events.
