2024 South Dakota Veteran-Owned Small Business of the Year Timber Ridge Campground

Pete and Monika dedicated 21 years in service to our country, flying the B-1 and B-52 bombers in the USAF. They deployed in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE and Continuous Bomber Presence in the Pacific. Pete ended his career leading the $1.5B bed down of the B-21 at Ellsworth and Monika finished her career as the Director of Staff, managing the Wing Commander's 155 member staff, both retired as Lieutenant Colonels. They followed their dream to purchase a campground in August 2021 while still on Active Duty. This summer, 2023 was the first year that they were able to operate the campground together, full time. In addition to owning and operating the campground, Pete is an assistant coach for both the Custer Middle School and High school Football teams as well as the Pole Vault coach. His top female vaulter took home the state title in 2022 as a Sophomore. Monika is a certified 500-hour Yoga instructor and finds her joy helping others on their yoga mat. She teaches weekly at Ellsworth AFB base as well as the Custer High School Wrestling team. When they're not running the campground, they're teaching, coaching or supporting their 3 boys.
