Bruce Purdy

Associate Administrator

Office of Small Business Development Centers

Bruce Purdy serves as Associate Administrator for the Office of Small Business Development Centers.  In this role he leads the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program designed to deliver professional, high quality, individualized business advising and technical assistance to existing small businesses and pre-venture entrepreneurs.  He will be responsible for providing oversight and support of the nationwide network of SBDCs.

Mr. Purdy has nearly 25 years of experience at the SBA, serving in a variety of leadership roles including serving as the Chief of the Microenterprise Development Branch (2005 – 2006), Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Women’s Business Ownership (2010 – 2018), Deputy Associate Administrator for the Office of Small Business Development Centers (2018 - 2019), and most recently as the Deputy Director for the HUBZone Program (2019 – 2022).

Prior to joining SBA, Mr. Purdy worked at the Ohio State University Extension program serving in a dual role as both Community and Economic Development Agent and President of the Williams County Economic Development Corporation. 

Mr. Purdy holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Bowling Green State University, where he also completed his undergraduate studies in International Relations and Russian Studies.
