Participating in DoD's SBIR/STTR Programs

With the U.S. Department of Defense making up almost half of the entire Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs, many potential applicants should consider DoD for funding. 

Keeping on top of the agency's SBIR/STTR programs is challenging, however, as its individual components have adopted different proposal instructions, some are issuing topics outside of the regular solicitations, and all are required now to also issue grant-like open topics.

Attend this virtual training to learn all about DoD’s SBIR and STTR programs, how to identify topics of interest, and the latest evolutions in their FY24.3 and FY24.C solicitations/broad agency announcements. 

The session will also:

• Introduce AFWERX’s and other components’ open topics
• Explore the all-important “out of cycle topics” under the FY24.4 and 24.C solicitations
• Offer some recommendations on how to prepare a competitive Phase I DoD proposal

This is an opportunity to learn from a leading SBIR expert! Our presenter, Jim Greenwood, is president of Greenwood Consulting Group, Inc. Jim and his wife, Gail, have been involved in the SBIR program since its inception in 1983. The Greenwoods have presented SBIR/STTR workshops in 48 states and at many national SBIR/STTR conferences. They are recipients of the Tibbetts Award for their contributions to SBIR/STTR outreach and education efforts. The Greenwoods have served as reviewers for the U.S. Army’s Quality Awards, which recognize the SBIR/STTR projects with the greatest commercial (private and/or military) potential. Additionally, they have critiqued hundreds of SBIR and STTR proposals for firms throughout the country.
