Have a tax problem you haven’t been able to resolve with the IRS?
The Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) will assist taxpayers in-person at its upcoming Problem-Solving Day Outreach Event on Thursday, July 11.
TAS is an independent organization within the IRS. TAS helps taxpayers resolve tax problems, recommends changes to prevent future tax problems, and protects taxpayer rights. TAS’s services are free to taxpayers who are:
- Experiencing a financial hardship or having financial difficulties because of a tax problem;
- Trying, but haven’t been able to resolve an IRS tax problem; or
- Believe an IRS system or procedure isn’t working.
The following partners will be available to answer questions and provide assistance:
-New Mexico Legal Aid Low Income Taxpayer Clinic
-Social Security Administration
-New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department
-IRS Senior Stakeholder Liaison
-Local offices of Senator Martin Heinrich, Senator Ben Ray Lujan, Congressman
Gabe Vasquez, and Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury
Important: Registration is not required. Walk-ins are welcome.
