READOUT: SBA Administrator Guzman Joins Rep. Horsford in Las Vegas to Tout Manufacturing Training Program

SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman and Rep. Steven Horsford Tour College of Southern Nevada’s manufacturing

LAS VEGAS – April 5, 2023, Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman, head of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the voice in President Biden’s Cabinet for America’s 33 million small businesses, joined U.S. Representative Steven Horsford (NV), in Las Vegas to highlight the success of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda and College of Southern Nevada’s (CSN) manufacturing training initiative to help develop a highly skilled workforce in southern Nevada.

Together, the Administrator and Rep. Horsford participated in a tour of CSN manufacturing with the leadership of CSN, learning about CSN initiatives to train their students in manufacturing and ensure they are workforce ready. The Investing in America agenda is unleashing a manufacturing and innovation boom that will create good-paying jobs that don’t require a four-year degree. Through the tireless work of the Biden-Harris Administration and the laser focus on creating well-paying, high-tech jobs in the U.S., more opportunities will be available to graduates of this program.

After the tour, Administrator Guzman and Rep. Horsford visited North Fifth Brewery, a Latina-owned brewing company – the first brewing company in Nevada owned by a Hispanic woman. North Fifth Brewery is also one of the 10.5 million small businesses started under the Biden small business jobs boom.

“President Biden’s vision for America is being realized here in Las Vegas. Students are preparing to take manufacturing jobs – 800,000 of which were created since President Biden took office – and our small businesses are leading their communities, employing nearly 500,000 Nevadans and creating roughly 27,000 new jobs every year,” said Administrator Guzman. “I look forward to continuing to work with Rep. Horsford and support his unrelenting dedication to Nevadans and small business owners.”

The Las Vegas trip highlights how small businesses, including those owned by people from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, and manufacturing jobs are thriving under the Biden Administration. With the collaboration with Nevadan leaders like Rep. Horsford, Nevada boasts 71,000 small businesses, over a quarter of which are owned by people of color. Through continued investments in small business communities across the country, the Administration is creating an economy that works for everybody.
