HOUSTON – The U.S. Small Business Administration Houston District Office is seeking 40 established entrepreneurs throughout the 32-county district to participate in a free, seven-month Emerging Leaders intensive executive-level training series.

Emerging Leaders is a program for established business owners poised for growth. Over the course of seven months at the Houston District Office on South Gessner, each participating entrepreneur will learn immediate ways to improve their business and will create a three-year strategic growth plan to build a sustainable business of size and scale.

Emerging Leaders is for established business owners and is not for start-ups or people who are thinking about starting a business. To be considered, firms must be for-profit enterprises, been in business for at least three years, have at least one full-time employee, and have annual revenues between $250,000 and $10 million.

There are no restrictions on the type of businesses that can participate. Some examples of participating businesses include manufacturers, retail stores, wholesalers, contractors, professional services and food service, to name a few.

The 6th Annual Houston Emerging Leaders executive-level training series accelerates growth of high-potential small businesses. Developed by the U.S. Small Business Administration, it draws on the experiences of advisors and business leaders in our area. This comprehensive curriculum provides the tools to catapult businesses to the next level and help it emerge as a force in the Houston area.

Eligibility Requirements: 

The Emerging Leaders advanced training series is open to small business CEOs whose companies:

           • Have annual revenues of at least $250,000.

           • Have been in business for at least 3 years. 

           • Have at least one employee, other than self (participant must be CEO, COO, CFO, Owner, or President and must be key decision maker).

• A demonstrated commitment, professionalism, and readiness to take one's venture to a new level of success, applicants should be prepared to:

  • Attend nearly 100 hours of classroom time and complete assigned projects over the duration of the 2020 session (April through October)
  • Engage with other CEOs, mentors and business experts in learning modules and out of classroom strategic sessions.

WHO should apply?

Small to medium sized businesses located in the greater Houston area that show a high potential for growth. The application deadline is March 30, 2020!

COST: The only costs are your time and commitment to complete the curriculum. All other costs are assumed by the U.S. Small Business Administration and local partners.
