SACRAMENTO, Calif.
– Hurricane Harvey has caused unprecedented damage in Texas. This will result in a substantial disaster relief workload for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance. SBA is the federal government’s primary source of money to help businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners and renters recover from disaster. SBA’s low‑interest disaster loans cover losses not fully compensated by insurance and are a critical source of financial assistance essential to recovery.
“Because of the magnitude of destruction, SBA’s Disaster Office is now hiring hundreds of disaster workers to help these survivors recover from the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. SBA immediately needs loan officers with backgrounds in finance, credit, banking, accounting, mortgage lending or students of business/finance, and attorneys with experience closing loans, legal documents, etc. to work in SBA’s Citrus Heights office,” said Director Tanya N. Garfield of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West.
“We also need customer service representatives, public information officers, information technology specialists and clerical personnel. These positions may require extensive travel to the affected areas in Texas,” Garfield said.
“Given the incredible destruction to homes and businesses, we need a substantial number of temporary employees to get the job done,” Garfield continued.
