SACRAMENTO, Calif. –

District Director Michael Ricks of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Louisiana District office announced today that SBA will close its Business Recovery Centers in East Baton Rouge and Livingston parishes at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017.

“SBA opened the Business Recovery Centers to provide personalized assistance to Louisiana businesses that were affected by the severe storms and flooding that occurred Aug. 11-31, 2016. Until the centers close, SBA customer service representatives will continue to be available to meet with businesses and residents to answer all of their questions, explain SBA’s disaster loan program and close their approved disaster loans,” said Ricks.

According to Ricks, SBA has approved disaster loans totaling $1,228,976,500 of which $153,923,500 is for businesses and $1,075,053,000 is for residents to help rebuild and recover from this disaster.

Business owners can meet with SBA representatives on the days and times indicated until the centers close. No appointment is necessary.

Even though the deadline to apply for a loan for property damage has passed, small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size still have until May 15, 2017, to apply for an economic injury disaster loan to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster. Economic injury assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any property damage.
