MS 15025 - SBA Approves Over $1 Million Disaster Loans in Mississippi; Change of Hours of Operations at Business Recovery Center in Hattiesburg

ATLANTA –

The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved more than $1 million in low-interest disaster loans for businesses and residents in Mississippi affected by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding on Jan. 20 - 21.  Additionally, the Saturday hours of operation for the Business Recovery Center in Hattiesburg are now 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Currently, 22 disaster loans have been approved in the amount of $1,280,600.00 for affected survivors,” said Frank Skaggs, director of SBA’s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta.  “We are pleased to get these loans approved so residents in the disaster area can start to rebuild and resume their normal lives. I encourage anyone who has not submitted an SBA disaster loan application to do so before the deadline.”
SBA representative at the Business Recovery Center (BRC) can provide information about disaster loans, answer questions and help businesses in completing the SBA application.  The Center is located as indicated below and will operate until further notice:

Hours:  Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Closed:  Sundays
SBA disaster loans are available to businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters to cover uninsured losses from the disaster.  Interest rates are as low as 3.125 percent for businesses, 2.5 percent for private nonprofit organizations, and 1.5 percent for homeowners and renters.  Loan terms can be up to 30 years.
