SBA’s low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans have several advantages:
- Loan amounts and payment terms are based on SBA’s analysis of each applicant’s financial situation. The maximum length of the loan is 30 years.
- SBA disaster loans are not from a bank and there is no cost to apply or obligation to take all or part of the loan if offered.
- Small businesses and nonprofits can borrow up to $2 million, with interest rates of 2.625 percent for private nonprofit organizations and 4 percent for small businesses.
- These working capital loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that could have been paid had the disaster not occurred. The loans are not intended to replace lost sales or profits. Eligible industries include but are not limited to the following: fishing guides, commercial fisherman, charter boats, crabbers, bait and tackle shops, marinas, restaurants, retailers, wholesalers, farm implement dealers, and feed and seed stores.
