WASHINGTON Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will travel to the Atlanta following President Obama’s State of the Union. She will showcase SBA and Administration efforts in providing current tools and resources for investment in entrepreneurship and small businesses. 

On Thursday, January 14, Contreras-Sweet will participate in a fireside chat hosted by GSA Administrator Denise Turner Roth and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, moderated by Central Atlanta Progress President A. J. Robinson. They will discuss the role of intergovernmental collaboration in helping small businesses and city centers across America thrive.

In the afternoon, Contreras-Sweet will visit Highland Bakery. Afterwards, she will underscore the importance of connecting entrepreneurs to small business accelerators and incubators to foster a 21st century economy by touring the Atlanta Technology Development Center. That evening, she will deliver remarks at a Millennial Women event.

On Friday, January 15, Contreras-Sweet will deliver opening remarks at the annual Operation Hope: HOPE Global Forums. She will speak on SBA’s strong partnership with Operation HOPE to boost economic opportunities for the middle class. Afterwards, she will tour the King Center in advance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
