The U.S. Small Business Administration has approved more than $5 million in low-interest disaster loans for businesses and residents in Virginia affected by Hurricane Matthew on Oct. 7 - 15, 2016. The deadline to file an SBA disaster loan application for physical damage is

“Currently, 143 disaster loans have been approved in the amount of $5,454,400 for affected survivors,” said Frank Skaggs, director of SBA’s Field Operations Center East in Atlanta. “We are pleased to get these loans approved so residents in the disaster area can start to rebuild and resume their normal lives. I encourage anyone who has not submitted an SBA disaster loan application to do so before the deadline.”
SBA disaster loans are available to businesses of all sizes, most private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters to cover uninsured losses from the disaster. Interest rates are as low as 4 percent for businesses, 2.625 percent for private nonprofit organizations, and 1.563 percent for homeowners and renters. Loan terms can be up to 30 years.
