WASHINGTON – National Small Business Week 2016 kicks off next month, May 1-2, with an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. where national award winners including the naming of this year’s national Small Business Person of the Year will be recognized and awarded for their achievements.

This year’s theme is “Dream Big, Start Small.” National Small Business Week is being held from May 1-7, and is an annual event hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration to recognize the nation’s top small businesses, entrepreneurs, small business advocates and champions.

SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet will host all the awardees at the national awards ceremony and events.  The rest of the week she will be traveling across the country promoting and attending numerous events recognizing the tremendous contributions of small businesses, women entrepreneurs, millennial entrepreneurs, immigrant entrepreneurs and veterans.
