Event description

Have a great idea but aren’t sure if someone else has thought of it first? Considering protecting your idea with a patent? Before you consult a lawyer, start filling out forms, or spend any money, there are some steps you should take. One of the first is conducting a patent search, also known as a prior art search. This helps determine if your idea is patentable and gives you a solid foundation for moving forward.

In this webinar, we’ll cover the basics of patents, introduce you to the USPTO’s patent database, Patent Public Search, and show you how to perform a simple 6-step prior art search. There will also be a brief Q&A session, along with information on additional resources and free assistance for navigating the patent process.

Speaker:
Anne Kuipers is the Patent and Trademark Resources Librarian at the Wyoming USPTO’s Patent and Trademark Resource Center. This is done as part of her work as a librarian at the Wyoming State Library. Her favorite part of being a librarian is helping people find the information that they are looking for. When not at work Anne can be found at home with her cat Matilda, curled up with a good book.
